Description: Trogir is a notable illustration of urban continuity. This island settlement’s orthogonal street plan was conceived as far back as the Hellenistic period and successive rulers embellished it with numerous fine public and domestic buildings and fortifications. Various outstanding Renaissance and Baroque buildings of the Venetian period complement the site’s older Romanesque churches. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
