Description: | Covering 33,200 ha the Tubbataha Reef Marine Park includes the North and South Reefs. It is a sole instance of an atoll reef possessing a very high concentration of marine species; birds and marine turtles employ the North Islet as a nesting site. It is a brilliant example of a pristine coral reef, boasting a stunning 100-m perpendicular wall, widespread lagoons and two coral islands. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available. | |
Tubbataha Reef is an atoll coral reef located in the Sulu Sea, 98 nautical miles (181 km) southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, the Philippines.
