Description: Covering 33,200 ha the Tubbataha Reef Marine Park includes the North and South Reefs. It is a sole instance of an atoll reef possessing a very high concentration of marine species; birds and marine turtles employ the North Islet as a nesting site. It is a brilliant example of a pristine coral reef, boasting a stunning 100-m perpendicular wall, widespread lagoons and two coral islands. --WHMNet paraphrase from the description at WHC Site, where additional information is available.
Tubbataha Reef is an atoll coral reef located in the Sulu Sea, 98 nautical miles (181 km) southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, the Philippines. It is a marine sanctuary protected as Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park. --Wikipedia. Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.
